Retired president and owner, Tom Johnson, has been building custom-designed swimming pools in the Austin area for over 40 years. His journey began in 1965 as a construction worker for Centex Pools, where he worked his way up to eventually co-own and lead the company.
Following the disbandment of Centex Pools during the recession in the 1980s, Tom immediately formulated plans to start his own company. In 1987, Tom and his wife, Lynda, founded Johnson Custom Pools, launching a very successful pool construction business.
In 1990, Toms’ son, Craig, joined the company to work in design and sales. Craig was named Vice President when Johnson Custom Pools incorporated as Central Texas Waterscapes, Inc.
In January 2019, Craig took over the business, and it was renamed Johnson Custom Pools LLC. While Tom is enjoying his full retirement, he remains a valued consultant.
Johnson Custom Pools’ success can be attributed to its remaining family business, which ensures personal attention to detail for each customer. The company maintains a consistent team of construction crew members that began with Tom in 1987. Craig and his wife and CFO, Melinda, work together to maintain expertise and professionalism.
